Performing breast augmentation “awake” (local anesthesia rather than general anesthesia) is getting a lot of attention nowadays because it’s being presented as a “safer” alternative. But is it actually safer?
That’s the question that’s been posed to some of the most experienced plastic surgeons in the country, and the answer is a resounding “no”. Many of the “surgeons” offering awake breast augmentation aren’t fully-trained plastic surgeons, and some of them aren’t surgeons at all!
